Caterpillar Launch The 3000KVA Diesel Engine

Caterpillar has announced that production of the new C175 family of diesel engines should commence by the end of 2006, with the first engines being available by early 2007. The 16cylinder, C175 engine will extend the power range of the 1500RPM CAT product range to 3000KVA (2400KW) for standby applications. There will also be 12 and 20cylinder versions that will eventually provide up to 4000KVA at 1500RPM thereby ensuring CAT maintains its current position as a world leader in the supply of diesel and gas driven industrial engines.

The C175 engine has taken some 10yrs to develop and has already accumulated thousands of operating hours in field trails, enabling any potential weaknesses to be identified and improvements made prior to the engine being released for commercial use. This testing and continuous product development ensures that CAT retains the reliability and durability that their customers have come to expect.
